MERINO WOOL
Merino wool is a long lasting, naturally odor-resistant fiber, but we recommend the following steps to care for your products over time, as well as best protect the natural dyes used in our yarn.
Wash & Dry: Hand Washing is always safest. Fill a sink or basin with cool water, and add a small amount of delicate or wool detergent. Submerge your item, and gently move around a bit. Let soak for 20 minutes. Gently squeeze out water, being careful not to twist. You can also lay your piece on a towel and wrap it up burrito-style to get additional moisture out.
Machine Washing is still okay, if done on delicate or woolen cycle, cold water, with gentle detergent and low spin. We recommend putting your item in a delicates bag.
Either way, we recommend 'blocking' to air dry. Wool takes the shape of whatever shape you dry it in, so if an item has stretched out a bit, drying it in its original shape can help reshape it. Or similarly, if your little one has outgrown a wool sweater, try gently stretching it out and blocking it, and you may get more years out of it!
General: Whatever method you choose, note that wool can felt if processed with heat and agitation, which is why we recommend cold and delicate always. In general, the less you wash, the better. Natural fibers will pill over time, due to how the yarn was twisted. It's not a defect, but sometimes very soft yarns are spun a little looser to bring out their natural loftiness. We recommend using a sweater shaver or similar tool to remove the pills.
